Ek Tha Tiger part 2

Jung described the chakras as Gateways of Consciousness. In other words, they are channels through which one's Higher Self (Soul) can connect with the Divine Source (Universal Consciousness).

Chakras are vibrating vortices of cosmic energy. Chakra literally means Wheel of Light (Sanskrit). We have seven major chakras, which are located along a vertical axis in the Ethereal/ Astral body, which aligns with the spine in the physical body. This chakra system is commonly known in Tantra as the Inner Flute or Sushumna (Sanskrit). And Taoist called it the Hollow Bamboo.

In Neo Tantrism, we believe that all living beings originate from one Divine Source of Energy. All of life is created from this Primary Source. This process of creation happens through dualism, known as Yin and Yang in Taoism or Ida and Pingala in Sanskrit. This dualism can be observed throughout nature: for example, in the positive and receptive poles of electromagnetic fields.

The Life Force energy, which runs through the Inner Flute, is known as Prana (Sanskrit) or Chi (Chinese). This energy is vitality - the breath of life itself! - the presence of which distinguishes a living being from a corpse.

The primordial sexual energy is known as Kundalini (Sanskrit) or Ching (Chinese). This is a dense form of the Life Force, which resides in the Root chakra but can be channelled through the Inner Flute.

Life Force travels through subtle energy channels known as Nadi(s) (Sanskrit) or Meridian(s) (Chinese). These channels flow through the Sushumna and to the rest of the ethereal body.

The Ethereal body is the counter-part to the physical body. It is the container for the Life Force energy, hence through this double, the physical body is vitalized. Willing, thinking and feeling originate in this subtle body and are then conveyed to the physical brain. Furthermore, the structure of the ethereal body mirrors the structure of the nervous, endocrine and other systems of the physical body.

Because of this, bodywork can release Body Armouring - tension held in the physical body caused by blocked emotions. Likewise, Chakra Balancing can restore physical health by improve the flow of energy through the charkas.

A useful metaphor to illustrate the chakras is sunlight shining through a quartz prism. The light is refracted into the different colours of the rainbow. Each colour has a different electromagnetic frequency. In turn, the sunlight is symbolic of Life force, which splits into the unique frequencies of the different chakras. For example, the root chakra harbours the densest frequency and the crown, the subtlest. They are both aspects of the One Life Force, but at different frequencies.
